Abstract

This article seeks to explore the senses given to the term nation in the use of territorial metaphors that imply two Argentinean counterparts. For such purpose, the collection of books La Siringa is taken into account, an editorial project attached to the tradition of Latin Americanist thought and considered one of the most notorious examples of the increasing readership of revisionist historical essays in the period. In addition, a collection —the contemporary demarcation determined by the editorial's decision— is contemplated because it allows us to examine the elements shared in a subtext level in a diversity of texts. The tools provided by discourse analysis referring to the underlying topics in argumentation and the imposition of the unsaid through metaphors enable us to approach commonly accepted senses and, in this way, the universe of social imaginaries about the past in a particular historical period.
