Abstract

This article shows the result of a bibliometric analysis of republicanism and the republican idea in Mexico between 1867 and 1910. This analysis is quantitative in nature and was carried out from a broad documentary base. In it, information was collected on three areas closely related to the study of political languages: the semantic field in which the debate took place, the actors involved in it, and references to republican models and classical and contemporary authors. The objective of this historical quantification exercise is to present indicators that show, on the one hand, some of the characteristic features of the reformulation of the republican tradition of good government in the country, and, on the other, the relevance and the different meanings of the concept of republic in the political debate of these years.
