Abstract

In recent years, Spain has seen the introduction of new housing cooperative models that have been successfully developed abroad. One such model, originating in Denmark, is the 'Andel' model, which has become a continuous reference for many projects proposed in Spain. Therefore, it was necessary to review and update it, particularly in light of Act 1281/2020 on cooperative housing associations and other housing associations, which is currently in force in Denmark. In this context, we have examined the general aspects of this type of housing cooperative, which was originally characterized by public support, distinguishing it from the Almene associations. We have also analysed its organizational model and economic management. Furthermore, we have contextualized the model within the framework of the Nordic countries, comparing it with other nearby countries, such as Sweden and Finland. Through this study, we aim to clarify the Andel model and assess whether it could serve as a reference for this 'new housing cooperativism'. Finally, it is important to note that, although it is impossible to transfer certain models exactly, as each respond to different needs, they should serve as unequivocal learning tools for constructing and revising our own models.
