Abstract
This article deals with art innovation in the electronic era. The social, ideological and cultural changes to art in the 20th century and its place in the current panorama. Kinetics, cinema, video, sound, television, audio-visuals and the most recent art trends on the Internet, computer graphics and virtual reality are all examined in the historical context. The incorporation of the new technologies in the field of art supposes a different intermediation between the image and its observation, and this technological Interface inevitably brings with it a new way of establishing communication between creators and spectators. The great current artistic challenge lies in reinventing a creation, production and distribution process in a world where globalisation can be a curtain making the local invisible.
