Abstract

The Glass, an Industrial Art, has long been a luxury in which the functionality and design were the main values. We will address some of the less known aspects of its history and its protagonists, the "People of glass". A guild of master craftsmen, with close family ties, which jealously guarded their knowledge, and extended its presence throughout Europe. Today the glass has been dominated by technology. We cover with glass skin buildings in our cities, and the optical fiber is the backbone of communications networks. But at the same time, still remain as an art, with techniques that are unchanged for centuries.
