Resumen

Este artículo analiza la respuesta del Gobierno irlandés a la propuesta de mediación de paz en la Guerra Civil española que le elevó en verano de 1938 la International Commission for the Assistance of Child Refugees in Spain. Con este propósito, se resume la reacción del Gobierno irlandés frente al conflicto, se examinan las gestiones que llevó a cabo la organización humanitaria cerca de las autoridades irlandesas a fin de obtener su colaboración financiera, y se describe el proceso de formulación y ejecución preliminar de un plan de arbitraje que contaba con el Estado irlandés como país neutral que actuaría de mediador entre las partes enfrentadas.
