Abstract

This article analyses the activity of the main Andalusian electricity companies —in particular The Mengemor company— and the government in Burgos to ensure the production and supply of electricity during the Spanish civil war, especially in those industries considered to be of strategic importance. To this end the following factors are examined: 1 .The evolution of the regional electricity grid from the end of 1910 to1935; 2. The organisations that played a role in the electricity sector and the work they undertook; 3. The amount of electricity interchanged between companies.
