Abstract

This article analyzes the image that the habitants of the Spanish towns close to Gibraltar had about the Gibraltarian people before and after the border closing in 1969. The perspective from this side of the border into the British Colony and the significance given to the relationship rupture, on which the economy of many people from the region depended, will be analyzed through the local press. Besides, we will try to know the opinion that the Spanish habitants from La Línea de la Concepción, San Roque, Algeciras and the rest of the province of Cádiz had about the Gibraltarian habitants, with some of which there were friendly and familiar relationships. We know it is not an easy task, because of the mass media control that the Press Law of 1966 gave to the government.
