Abstract

The Restoration was a period of extraordinary relevance for the Basque Country, with changes in differente orders of the life. The distribution of the political power was one of the fields where they were made notice more sensibly those transformations, and one of the preferred subject of study in this article. The analysis of the distribution of the power that allows to contemplate the role of the different bourgeoisies and the different burdens that managed to have in each province. A particular attention is paid to the mechanisms why the elites marked the differences and maded patent their social predominance, bringing into play a varied range of behaviors to increase their reputation.
