Abstract

This article aims to analyse the different forms of popular proteest that took place in a province as Zaragoza, interior and fundamentally rural, in the turning of the XIX and XX centuries, where, without living a revolutionary process of protest, there were however moments of intense social discontent. It has intended to connect the collective demonstrations of traditional protest with other individual, silent and more directly related to the common uses of the land and the forest, trying to integrate both of them in the daily village life. The political argument underlies the narration of the cases exposed, being revealed the instrumental character of the protest in a moral and material negotiation with the authorities, in spite of its apparently informal and spontaneous condition.
