Abstract

The interview provides an analysis of the incorporation of gender studies into North American Universities after the seventies. Its significant development brought about an intense theoretical renovation, not only from academic institutions but also from women's movements. Kaplan also points out that the progress of current gender studies lies in its inmersion in historiographical debvates and its links with social movements. The last part of the interview consists of analysing some aspects of Temma Kaplan's work, her concept of "female conciousness" or the characteristics of the women's groups discussed in her latest book: Crazy for Democracy.
