Abstract

This article analyzes how the Spanish exile community in Mexico celebrated, for almost forty years, the founding myth of the Second Republic: the day of its advent on April 14, 1931. The objective is to show, through this place of memory, how the idea and image of republican Spain was transformed until became a highly mystified construction, into the imaginary of these exiled, who had been forced to leave the country between 1936-1939. In order to do this, the successive celebrations of this ephemeris are analyzed, both from the ritual and discursive point of view.
