Abstract

This bibliographical essay analyzes several publications on the Spanish Independence War that appeared to mark the Bicentenary in relation to four specific issues: the nature of the war, the reign of Joseph Bonaparte and the guerrilla phenomenon. If those three paragraphs have a clear thematic content, the fourth is influenced by the epistemological shift experienced in recent years from the factual history to cultural history, and addresses issues relating to the representation and memory of war.
