Abstract
This paper discusses the personal and inner vision of a renowned intellectual, an eminent sociologist who held top positions of responsibility during the so-called “decade of change”. Based on his first hand work, letters and interviews, an analysis of this powerful subjective look is provided to shed new light on this period of the Spanish recent history. It is also an epistolary and historical study that proves the main characters of the “decade of change” did tackle domestic political problems with energy, although not without distress. There was therefore a clear awareness of the social problems as well as the influence that certain politicians and intellectuals had over the president of the Government.
