Abstract

In this paper we talk about the building of the website 'Ferrol Urban History', our first experience in researching and publishing with multimedia tools. Then we discuss how multimedia tools are an exceptionally well-suited instrument for exploring the relationships between memory, icons and urban space, as they allow to better capturing and 'visualizing' the non-linear order in which the social memory is also organized. We take some examples from more general research on the differences between preindustrial and industrial crowds' collective action. We shall finally present a new website, the «Urban History of Galicia», a research project on the field of the history of urban planning.
