Abstract

This article is a biographical summary of the late historian Ricardo Miralles (1954-2022), senior professor in Contemporary History at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). It offers an overview of Ricardo Miralles more than four decades of work as both a professor and researcher, during which time he contributed greatly to the renewal of Basque historiography. In particular, the article highlights Ricardo Miralles contributions to the study of Basque socialism and Spanish socialism, their leaders Indalecio Prieto and Juan Negrín, the Second Spanish Republic, the Spanish Civil War, and in the field of international relations
