Abstract

Queridísimo Caudillo… investigates the traces of the civil war on the daily life of the population during the years of autarky. The objective is to analyze the continuities in daily life between the war and the postwar period, which is summarized in the concept of Victory and lasted almost a decade, longer than in other postwar contexts. The aim is to analyze both material poverty and moral corruption, two aspects that had a significant impact on the daily life of ordinary people during the period from 1936 to 1952. It is argued that the experiences of hunger and moral distress that were endured during the war continued to persist after April 1939 and affected people of all ideologies.
