Abstract

The current article provides a synthetic perspective on the Spanish theosophical movement from its introduction in this country to the blast of the Civil War (c. 1890-1939). Basically, this study is a first approach to the study of spiritual heterodoxies (spiritualism, theosophy, modern esotericism, etc.) developed in West industrial societies along 19th and 20th centuries. In short, this text is intended to be an explanation on the meaning of being theosophist in a society rooted in the Catholic tradition.
