Abstract

In this article I follow the path of the links between the variety of Catholic Agustinianism known as Jansenism and the development of an ethics of interest that revealed useful for the consolidation of a «commercial society». Commercial society was a topic widely discussed in eighteenth-century Spain, admitted by jansenists even if they did not approve it.
