Abstract

The background of the paper is the construction of a Business History from the perspective of family strategies. That means to take into account cultural patterns —norms and values— as a way to built the social networks supporting the enterprise. The diversity of this kind of practices did help to elaborate some analytical theories. In order to test some of those theories –in that case, the different meanings of the concepts of networks, and social capital– the paper sets a comparative and historical analysis of two Spanish entrepreneurs, at the end of 19th. Century.
