Abstract

In the nineteenth century, economic, social and legal changes affected the hereditary practices of the elites in Spain. Although being crucial in the capacity that these elites showed in their perpetuation, the knowledge of Spanish historiography is still limited. Through the synthetic description of the hereditary strategies and the reproduction of the different elites in the nineteenth, from the Ancien Régime to the introduction of the liberalism society, a historiographic reflection is tried about this important theme of the social history of the family.
