Abstract

The present work analyses the external economic politic of Franco's regime during 1940-1975, period. Franco's regime inherited an economic model, which was already very closed due to the Economic Crisis in 1929. The new Regime managed to make it even more blocked so it became autarchic. Nevertheless, the economic politic followed by Franco's regime was not homogeneous and one can observe two different phases: the autarchic (1940-59) and the external opening (1960-75). The shift from the first one to the second one had been possible thanks to the implementation of the Spanish Stabilization Plan in 1959, which was adopted because of the external strangulation suffered by the Spanish economy.
