Abstract

In the Spanish context, the Valencian economy evolved since the late nineteenth century in a peculiar way. On the one hand, a very intensive and export agriculture was able to generate high concentrations of population. Because access to land increasingly widespread, these concentrations did not prevent the improvement of living standards. A model that contrasted with most of the Spain. On the other hand, industrial development was also above average but fell far short of the manufacturing regions.
