Abstract

The Police and Printing Act adopted in the first Liberal government of Práxedes Mateo Sagasta allowed the development of business journalism in Spain in the last 30 years of the Restoration system. The major figure of the development that media suffered from the late nineteenth century was the journalist, politician and businessman Miguel Moya, editor of El Liberal, founder of the Press Association of Madrid and creator of the first group of Spanish-language media company, the Sociedad Editorial de España.
