Abstract

In the first ideological texts of Spanish socialism, the solution to social problems can be seen to have been influenced by its schematic reception of marxist determinism, which rejected all reformist politics.

This son contradicted the moderate practice of union action which brought about an internal debate between revolution and reform.

Throughout the years of the restoration of the Spanish monarchy, the socialist position on social politics continued to evolve amidst fierce internal tension.

This article summarises the main lines of thought pointing out the turn that came about during the first decades of the 20th century and which led to hispanic socialism moving towards social sectors influenced by the opinios of regenerationist reformism.
