Abstract

Since the Middle Ages, we find throughout the history of Spain a strong involvement by the Catholic religion and its Church. In 1939, the victory of Franco's insurgent troops brought the implantation of a political regime that was denominated national-Catholicism, because of the strong connection between Catholicism and State, and that lasted, although its characteristics varied with time, up until November 1975. By this means Franco was doing no more than continue an old Spanish tradition.
