Abstract
As most of nationalisms that emerged during the last decades of the nineteenth century, the structure of the main ideas of political catalanism presents as one of its main elements the appeal to a golden age in which Catalonia had reached its political and cultural plenitude. However, this process didn't develop in a linear and homogeneous way. The analysis of the references to medieval Catalonia in the works of Enric Prat de la Riba and Eugenio d'Ors allows the author to analyze the tensions that appeared in lligaire-noucentista nationalism between the concepts nation, nationalism and imperialism, and illuminate rather analyzed aspects of the complex relations between nationalizing projects led by both men.
