Abstract

The core argument developed in this article is that some of the main advances that have taken place in the historiography focused on the study of the civil war and the Franco dictatorship have been fostered by the interdisciplinary dialogue maintained with the neighboring social sciences. Specifically, the interest lays on what seems to be a (re)discovery of the subject and a renewed attention to the experiences and agency of individuals within the study of the Civil War and Francoism. Consequently, the article proposes the hypothesis that it is precisely in this interest in the subjects where a fruitful dialogue between disciplines can continue to take place, illustrating it with some outstanding examples of perspectives and recent turns that, from interdisciplinary fields and focusing on the subjects, are proposing new ways for a better understanding of the war and the dictatorship.
