Abstract
The Incoherent Arts was an artistic movement that emerged in France in 1882. The fact that it was ahead of its time made its existence fleeting. However, later movements such as Dadaism or Surrealism had a clear precursor in the Incoherent Arts. On the other hand, the cut out has been one of the most used animation techniques. Analyzing the role of this technique and the imprint of the Incoherent Arts in two specific films –Une excursion incohérente (Segundo de Chomón, 1909) and Le peintre neo- impressionniste (Émile Cohl, 1910)– is the main objective of this study.
