Abstract

The color is an essential component of social codes, full of meanings belonging to the collective memory. This sign, with high interference and high connotative significant value in the image, is the result of the construction of a symbolic language that has its own laws and rules of operation. The colors have been a reference to the expression of thought through visual discourse, while its immediacy to convey the message has made them a factor to be considered a potential threat. This article discusses issues related to the role played by color in the field of art and outlines the reasons why this element has been rejected at some times and excitement in others, enabling both the transmission of multiple messages.
