Escultores pensionados en Bizkaia (1888-1916)

Abstract

This article analyzes the oficial system of artistic grants in the province of Bizkaia, promoted by the City Council of Bilbao and the regional government, placing this system in a national and European context. In addition, it considers the different calls for applications, as well as the experiences of the main recipients of grants within the field of sculpture: Sáenz Venturini, Mogrobejo, Higinio and Manuel Basterra, García de Salazar, Torre, Dueñas and Garrós.
