Abstract
This study reflects on the sculpture as an object that the painter incorporates in his work. There are various cultural references, problems and intentions that led to its inclusion. We propose an approach to how art speaks of art through the eyes of the painter. We debate about Antiquity as a model, painting versus sculpture, sculpture as an attribute, trompe l'oeil to the divine and other topics. Taking advantage of the presence of the sculpture, painters visualized theoretical debates, defending their privileges and status, expressing their devotions and using sculpture to create atmospheres, with real or imaginary recreations.
