Abstract
Although the article studies the relationship between women and the Christian religious world during Late Antiquity, particularly after its fall (year 476), in the Western part of the ancient Roman Empire, it is analyzed the situation of the woman (Roman citizen) in high-imperial society and her role. This structure allows us to appreciate the triumph of continuity regarding the social role of women that, in my opinion, occurred from the pagan Roman society of the Principality to the Christian society of the Lower Empire, even in the Christian religious sphere, theoretically so far removed from of pagan religious values.
