Abstract
For years a widespread current of opinion has maintained that women and men were equal under the regime of our medieval Fueros. One of the main arguments underlying that conclusion draws on the fact that women could inherit the family home, as expressly provided for in our foral laws. The aim of this paper is to deconstruct that discourse, which lacks scientific basis, to propose instead a reading of our foral writings which is more in line with the social reality they regulated and incorporates, therefore, a gender perspective
