Abstract
This work seeks to understand the way in which pleas for pardon were developed in nineteenth-century Chile by making a first approach to the case ofveterans of the War of the Pacific (1879-1884). For the analysis, a methodology of pro- sopographic analysis of the supplicative process is applied, constituting a graphic database that is interpreted from a reading against the grain of the sources, showing the fundamental role of social recognition inthese processes.
