La construcción del “otro turco”: la batalla de Nicópolis y el cautiverio de Johannes Schiltberger

Resumen
La batalla de Nicópolis en 1396 no solo supuso una severa derrota para la coalición cruzada en su guerra contra el expansivo imperio otomano, también fue el punto de partida de una nueva narrativa en la construcción del otro turco. En este artículo se analiza la transformación del discurso sobre el enemigo musulmán en el contexto de la expansión militar turca de finales del S. XIV y de comienzos del S. XV prestando especial atención al relato de Johannes Schiltberger, escrito tras el cautiverio que siguió a su participación en dicha batalla.
