Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyse the way in which the socialist trade unions of Madrid and its province worked between Octobre of 1934 and February of 1936. This was a period singled out by the repression of the events of October, but in which the UGT's trade unions intended, as far as possible, to keep on their activity, by adjusting it to the new political conditions and using the margins up permitted by the laws.
