Abstract

Antonio Rius Miró was an outstanding chemist who developed his academic career during the first two thirds of the 20th century. In this period, Chemistry in Spain evolved from the creation of an independent section in the faculties of Science, to the appearance of new studies related to its industrial nature. Rius had a training in relation to the modernizing movement of the JAE, and a leading role in the practical orientation that Francoism gave to scientific studies. Through his biography we want to show how this evolution took place, what role he played as a political actor in this change, and what tools he used to achieve it.
