Abstract

The article offers a theoretical-conceptual reflection about a recent historiographical field: history of communication. Author bases his proposal on his research and teaching experience. He needs to introduce some guides in an area dominated by confusion and fear among different historiographical schools. Due to changes in the contemporary society in last decades, historiographical reflection has opened itself to new ambits and protagonists. Prejudice for communicative messages, media and the strategies, all have converged in the not enoughly defined common space of the Social History of the culture/Cultural history of the societies. After an exhaustive course through the streams and schools that have dealt with the subject matter, the author offers a proposal moving himself among the interdisciplinarity and the realism.
