Abstract
Policies for inclusion in relation to disabled people are based on certain considerations for building societies, which permeate through legislation and public policy. These considerations are based on values such as equality, tolerance and solidarity, which have changed in the course of history. However, the role of people with disabilities has normally been considered as passive within the inclusion process. This paper suggests that, once this inclusion process has been implemented, coexistence with disabled people also generates values which have an impact on the society of which they form a part, with these people taking on an active role.
