Abstract
This paper sets out an overall view of social inclusion processes, one which put people at the centre of these processes and focuses both on people and on the community, social and economic contexts. This involves criticism of a system which is essentially unfair, generating exclusion and inequality, but also proposes setting in motion alternative initiatives prefiguring a fairer, more inclusive model. It also points out the need to repoliticise the actions of the social intervention sector and reinforce their function of mobilisation and dialogue with the authorities and other social stakeholders. It concludes by calling for the setting up of a Basque Social Inclusion System.
