Abstract
Despite the messages we are sent as to the end of what has come to be known as the Great Recession, we believe its effects will last and will continue to negatively affect the lives of men and women all over the world.
The aim of this article is to reflect on the events to date and to pose keys to the future – obviously from a gender-based perspective. Firstly, following a brief description of the financial crisis, responsibilities will be discussed. The article will then focus on the consequences on the jobs and work of both men and women. It will also provide a critical insight into the measures taken by governments to tackle the financial crisis and to reactivate the economy. Finally, several keys will be offered that are thought may help promote equality, particularly in the workplace.
