Abstract
This article considers the relationships between companies and indigenous communities as a pretext for addressing the theme of CSR and its effects on these communities. In this work, current characteristics are affirmed that condition relationships between indigenous communities and mining companies guarding against systematically addressing CSR implementation methods in relation to indigenous communities, given that companies do not guarantee the required CSR commitments. The article also raises a series of issues in relation to the ways in which CSR programmes must be handled with respect to indigenous communities, with special attention in the context of Spanish companies, due to the fact that Spain ratified the OIT Convention 169 in 2007.
