Abstract

Both in the Integrated Guidelines for growth and employment of the 2005-2007 cycle and at the European Council in spring 2006, the Member States were invited to reform their social and labour market policies, adopting an approach which combined flexibility and work security. In this article, these flexicurity proposals are studied in detail and a series of aspects which seem particularly worrying are set out, in view of the characteristics of the current tendencies in the labour market, especially for those persons and those groups who are in a situation of exclusion.
