Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has emerged as a key tool to achieving sustainability in a social-economic context where our current production model is based on minimum turnaround, maximum flexibility and on the lowest price, is dependent on an economy that is operating using a global system, where the public sector is under constant threat and its capacity to influence is now held by comanies with greater political and economic power. However, there are great conceptual divergences about key questions that affect the scope of CSR, the role that each of the leading players must play in the process and if it should be subject to public regulation. In this article, we consider some of these key issues to understand CSR.
