Abstract
The issue on transnational companies and their impact on the enjoyment of human rights is gaining more and more importance all over the world. As a result, during recent years, various initiatives have been launched with the aim of providing private actors with certain juridical guidelines and principles as regards human rights. The efforts made are still taking their first steps and the latest events are not good news for the future advancement of the rule project developed in 2003 by the United Nations Sub-comission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights; on the contrary, such events seem to forestall the worst. Therefore, it is utterly necessary to establish some binding juridical standards in the field of human rights for one the most influential actors in the present global economy.
