Abstract
This work analyses the role of placement services in designing employment policy. Having analysed the Spanish employment policy, we set out the characteristics of the current regulatory and institutional framework of the legal aspects of employment and particularly of the public placement service, ending with a number of questions which should be tackled as part of the necessary reform of placement services within the framework of measures that would complete the reform of the Basic Employment Law, Law 51/1980.
