Abstract

The "community crime prevention" is very often presented as an important new strategy to deal with theurban insecurity problem in a democratic way. It iscomposed mainly of numerous kinds of different prescriptions and interventions against crime. Particularlyin the City of Buenos Aires, it is orientated to the active participation of the middle class in the government of their own security. We will try to analyze thesenses, objectives and functions that are attributed tothese "communities". At the same time, we would liketo point out certain relationships that these senses canestablish with the new middle class subjectivities inBuenos Aires
