Abstract

This article presents the role of border zones in the concreteness of national identifications and categorizations. This is done through the case of Cerdanya (a Pyrenean Valley). Processes of construction of national identities are understood from local reality and interactionof groups. The text explains that the construction of collective feelings of identification and group categorizations takes place through three paths: negotiation in situations of conflict or tension, routine situations of interaction and narratives on contacts andrelations in the border zone and on it.
