Abstract

The year 2004 marks the emergence in France of a significant number of research works, but also of two controversies: a controversy concerning prostitution, and more specifically the mobilization of sex workers against the Domestic Security Act (2002); and a controversy around the use of the veil. It is in this context that both in France and in Europe the issue of imbrication (see intersectionality) of gender, sexual, color, "race," and class power relations, but also of religious, national, and generational power relations... has turned into one of the most controversial and pressing issues in feminist and gender studies.
